Creativity+and+Art

Creativity is innate.
Each of us has a creative aspect.
Regardless of form; visual, performing, literary,
through work and play, we each have talent.
Art allows our natural or learned talents to become physical,
thus reflecting our nature as human beings.

Art is reflective of idea and emotion.
Depending on form composition and construction,
art provokes the viewer to respond to sensual stimulus.
Artists seek to inform, excite, persuade, communicate, inspire,
revealing perceptions of experienced reality.

Artists seldom discuss the meaning and purpose of Art.
Instead, focusing on their work,
artists endeavor to solve self-imposed riddles
involving the creative combination of
intent and execution of idea.
Visual manifestations question issues of meaningful form.
Art is the resolution of head, hand, and heart.

Idea realized.

Feeling communicated.

Inquiry resolved.

As a lifelong artist and master Arts Educator, I have developed philosophies pertaining to the study of ideas and practice of art and artists. Having crafted many lessons within the curriculum of photography, drawing, painting, and sculpture, in over 25 years of teaching at the high school and community college levels, I will share some of my professional perspectives and practices through this weblog. Topics will include aesthetics and meaning, compositional decision making, creative processes and presentation techniques. All visual examples (unless otherwise noted) are from my collection and may contain links for further consideration.
